Collection: Stephen Scott
Glasgow based Stephen Scott is a self-taught Scottish acrylic artist. He began painting, firstly watercolours then acrylics, 6 years ago as a hobby. After receiving encouragement from other artists, Stephen began to exhibit his works in several Glasgow venues and Galleries.
Stephen has donated artworks to various charities for auction, including Shelter, The British Heart Foundation, and Bread over Bombs, the Glasgow foodbank charity that he holds close to his heart.
As of March 2023 he plans to become a full time artist.
As for personal highlights, 4 of Stephens artworks, and 2 written pieces, have been used in the top selling publication ‘Ignore Alien Orders’, a book about his favourite band The Clash. Stephen has also designed album covers for some bands on the Scottish music scene.
Stephen gives a nod to artists Jack Vettriano, Banksy, and Ray Lowry as his inspiration and drive. Stephen will tell you that his biggest rewards by far is the amazing artists, art lovers and characters he has met through his artwork. He quotes The Clash’s Joe Strummer in saying ‘without people you’re nothing’.
Stephen is about to start a new body of artwork with the intention of taking up offers of exhibiting in England and Ireland later next year. Stephens exhibition ‘Against the grain’ is currently on show at Front Room Gallery Helensburgh, until early November.
