Collection: Rowena Comrie
Rowena has continued to paint professionally since graduating in Fine Art from Reading
University in 1982; in 2010 she relocated from Aberdeen to Glasgow where she now works
from a studio in Glasgow’s East End, embracing colourfield painting with confidence and
passion.
In 2012 Rowena was awarded Professional Development funding from Creative Scotland
enabling her to accept a residency in America. She has works included in Public
collections including Aberdeen Art Gallery. Rowena continues to paint full-time, exhibiting
regularly in Scotland, UK and USA.
“Painting in watercolour is an important part of my practice. For over 20 years I
documented the sea at Aberdeen, painting from the beach in all seasons and weathers,
maintaining a watercolour diary. Since relocating to the West Coast of Scotland I have
enjoyed the more rugged coastline, painting at Faslane and Rosyth and other locations of
interest towards the West Coast. A residency at Bowling during November 2018 resulted
in a new series of work shown at the Back Door Gallery Dalmuir, in a solo exhibition.”
